In Empire Junior B action the Buffalo Stars play host to the Jersey Wildcats. The Wildcats come to town with a record of 7-7-0-1 and are in 3rd place in the Eastern Division of the American Conference. The Wildcats are looking for a strong weekend after having dropped their last 5 outings including a pair each to league leaders Applecore and Pittsburgh. The Wildcats are led by Thomas Tomensky (15 points) and Sean Rasimowicz (12 points).
For Buffalo, this will be their first league games since October 19th. Coming off a powerful showing in non league play last weekend, the Stars are poised to make a run at 2nd place Maksymum. With an Empire record of 4-6-2, the Stars are looking to reach the .500 mark in league play. The Stars currently hold onto 3rd place in the Western Division of the American Conference. Buffalo is led offensively by Danny Potter, Garrett Moore and Stephano Bueme with 8 points each.
Buffalo and Jersey are in similar circumstances in the Empire league with 3rd place records and similar team statistics. Teams face off on Saturday and Sunday with warm up at 7pm and 12:45pm respectively. Look for a great weekend of hockey from these 2 teams.
In Continental Junior C action the Buffalo Stars host the Jersey Wildcats. In a previous meeting this season the Stars came out on top twice including an 8-7 run and gun game. Jersey is an anomaly of sorts having given the top teams in the league a run for their money, yet struggling with the weaker teams.
The Wildcats, with a record of 4-10-2 sit in 5th place in the league but are not to be underestimated as an offensive threat. Dylan Jacobson is the Wildcats leading scorer with 14 goals and 10 assists to tie him for the scoring lead in the league. The Wildcats are unbeaten in their last 2 starts having won and tied with Virginia.
The Buffalo Stars are in solid control of 2nd place in the league with a record of 9-1. Unbeaten since September, the Stars have the most explosive offense in the CHA registering 8.2 goals per game. Buffalo is led by Anthony DiChristopher and Russ Rizzo with 20 points each. Eight other Stars players have double digit numbers and every member of the team except goaltenders have scored at least one point.
Teams face off Saturday and Sunday with warm up at 4:15pm and 10am respectively.
This is the Annual Taste of Buffalo Stars weekend where all Stars parents bring their favorite “Buffalo” specialty dish and share the feast with everyone in attendance.
