Stars CHA veteran Travis Densmore anxious to be back in action
All 3 Buffalo Stars Junior teams are in action this weekend as the Empire, CHA B and CHA C all have a 2 game set.In Continental Junior C action, the Buffalo Stars play a 2 game non-league set. Today they face off against the Erie Lake Effect, a Midget Major squad out of Erie, Pa. On Sunday they face off against the Canisius College Club team. The Stars C team is anxious to get back into action having not played a game in 3 weekends. The Stars C team has only played 10 league games and has a record of 2-7-1. With more than 2/3 of their season still left to play, the Stars are looking to get back into the swing of things. Buffalo is 6-8-1 overall in this young season. Game time is 4pm today and 10am Sunday.
In Continental Junior B action, the Buffalo Stars host the Philadelphia Junior Blazers. The Blazers come into town with one of the best records in the league at 13-6-1. The Blazers have slumped lately and are currently winless in their last 6 games. Philly does have some potent offense however and the tandem of Sean Sowney and Sean Nealis has combined for 85 points. With 146 goals for, the Blazers are the leagues most potent offensive threat. Buffalo is on an 8 game winning streak and looks to add to that total this weekend. The team has been playing well offensively and defensively and has received solid goaltending. Andy Sturtz (17 points) and Mike Schalberg (16 points) lead the way for the Stars. Buffalo with a 10-5-1 record sits in 3rd place in the American Conference. With a pair of wins this weekend, Buffalo can come to within 2 points of Philadelphia and Buffalo has a 4 game in hand advantage over the Blazers. The Stars are 12-6-2 overall. Game times are 7pm today and 12:45pm on Sunday.
In Empire Junior B action, the Buffalo Stars hit the road to play a pair against the Syracuse Stars. Buffalo, with a league record of 10-6 lead Syracuse in the standings by a point. Buffalo does however have a 2-game in hand advantage over Syracuse (9-8-1). Syracuse has been playing well since dropping a pair to Applecore a month ago. They are on a 6 game streak where they have lost only a single game. Buffalo was on a streak of their own until meeting Applecore last week. The Stars still have been playing strong with a 5-3 record in their last 8 games. This will be a big weekend for Buffalo as they look to gain ground on the 3rd place NJ Hitmen and make some distance between themselves and Syracuse. Game times in Syracuse are 4pm today and 11am Sunday.
