Veteran Frankie Buttino selected to Empire All Star Game along with teammate Hayden Fitzpatrick

The Buffalo Stars Empire Junior B team continues their winning ways going into this important weekend sitting in 3rd place in the American Conference with a record of 20-8-3. The Stars are 5th overall in the entire league and are looking to continue their winning ways this weekend.

The Buffalo Stars have not lost a hockey game since before Thanksgiving. During that time they have amassed an impressive 10 win and 3 tie record outscoring their opponents by 69-28.  The have been especially strong the last 7 games where they have outscored opponents 45-7 in seven consecutive victories.  Especially important in this stretch is that the Stars have gone undefeated in 2 Showcases against the strong National Conference teams.

Leading the way offensively for Buffalo is Kyle Leto with 26 points. Josh Smith and Danny Potter have each contributed 25.  More important is the balance that the Buffalo offense provides as the Stars can get production from each line on any given night. Leading the way for the strong blue liners is Hayden Fitzpatrick (Empire All Star Game Participant) with 17 points.  The blue line corps has been steadily improving each and every week and is a major part of the team’s success.  Goaltending has been solid with the duo of Christopher Paulin (.918 sv%) and Adam Kirk (.914 sv%).

Buffalo has already clinched a playoff position but still has a formidable league schedule ahead. The Stars will travel to Philadelphia this weekend to take on the Revolution. This is a make up weekend that was canceled in December when a major storm hit the East Coast. The Revolution has a record of 15-12-3-1 going into this weekend and is looking to improve their standings for post season positioning.

Prior to this weekend, the Stars will travel to Rochester tomorrow evening to take on the always powerful Maksymum. With a record of 18-9-0-4, team Maksymum is looking to move up and take over 3rd place from the Stars. These two teams have met twice already this season with Buffalo coming out on top both games in overtime.  Buffalo and Maksymum will also play next Thursday night at ESL in Rochester.  Buffalo also has two game sets remaining at the Jersey. Wildcats February 20-21 and will be home against Pittsburgh February 14-15 and wrap up the regular season at home February 27-28 against the NY Coyotes.

Post season play begins for Buffalo the weekend of March 5-7 at the Warwick Ice Arena in Warwick, PA as the American Conference converges on this Philadelphia suburb for a double elimination playoff.  The Stars appear to be strong and focused and hope to make a significant statement in the post season.
