Stars Empire falls in playoffs

The results were somewhat less than expected as the Stars dropped their first 2 games in this double elimination series. Buffalo dropped a heartbreaker against Syracuse on Friday in a 2-1 overtime loss.  On Saturday the Stars fell to Brewster 3-1 and returned home.

It is not meant to be for the Stars to be in the final 4 this year. However, their focus on the Nationals remains intact as the Stars find themselves still in the hunt for a 5^th place seed because of their stellar regular season record.

The final 4 participants are Boston Junior Bruins, NH Monarchs and Applecore. Joining them will be either Syracuse or Maksymum who play each other this Tuesday for the last final 4 position.  Boston, New Hampshire and Applecore have already secured their position in the Nationals. The winner of Syracuse/Maksymum will join those teams in the final 4 but that team must win at least one game to qualify for Nationals.  If that team loses their first 2 games, they are eliminated and the Jersey Hitmen gets the 4^th seed and Buffalo gets 5^th. If the Syracuse/Maksymum participant wins one game, they get the 4^th seed, the Hitmen get the 5^th seed.

Confused yet? Well, if that scenario occurs, it drops the Stars to 6^th. That means Buffalo has to host the 3^rd place CHA team for a play in game on March 20^th. That play-in winner will get the 16^th and final seed to the Junior B Nationals.  Either way, the Stars still have one last chance at qualifying for the Nationals.
